How a hot tap job runs

LINE STAYS LIVE THROUGHOUT

Survey & plan
Line data, wall thickness and operating conditions reviewed; method statement and risk assessment issued.
Fit & weld
Split tee or nipple installed on the live line by qualified welders.
Valve & test
Isolation valve mounted and the assembly pressure tested before cutting.
Tap
Hot tap machine cuts through the pipe wall and retracts the coupon behind the valve.
Close out
Valve closed, machine removed and the new connection handed over with records.

Gate valves, christmas trees and wellhead components come into our Muscat workshop for registration, NORM checking, inspection, repair and pressure testing, then go back to the wellsite ready for service.

EVERY VALVE IS TRACKED FROM INTAKE TO RETURN

Intake
Valve or X-tree transported from the wellsite to our base.
Registration & NORM check
Each item logged and screened for naturally occurring radioactive material.
Inspection & pressure test
Condition assessed and the valve pressure tested to find what needs repair.
Repair & pressure test
Parts repaired or replaced, then the valve is tested again before release.
Pass: return to service
Ready to return to the wellsite or client facility.
Fail: end of service
Taken out of service with an end-of-service report.
